Tree Planting
In Social Studies, we recently learned about the importance of protecting and replenishing our natural resources.
Below is information for a great community event sponsored by Essex Region Conservation Authority that your family might be interested in checking out. (Information is taken directly from the ERCA website.)
Earth Day 2016 Tree Planting
April is Earth Month, and the Essex Region Conservation Authority is inviting everyone to join us on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 10am – 12noon to help plant more than 2,000 native trees and shrubs in the City of Windsor. This year, the tree planting event will once again take place in the Little River Corridor at Florence and McHugh, just east of the WFCU Centre. While we have shovels to share, you may wish to consider bringing your own to this free event!

Mad Science
A great big thank you to Mr. "The Brain" Barron for the awesome Mad Science experience. We learned a great deal about how to create strong and stable structures using concepts developed as far back as when the Ancient Romans lived.
Lighting It Up Blue at Home
Thank you to everyone who is continuing to spread awareness for Autism by "Lighting It Up Blue" at home. Don't forget to send Mrs. Adams your "selfie" so we can share your picture on the blog and in our SOM assembly.

The Three R's
With Earth Day quickly approaching (April 22) we have begun to discuss some of the small changes at home and around the house that we can make to help take better care of our environment.
We have been discussing the "Three R's" - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Watch below to learn a little bit more about the recycling process.

Stability "Eggs"periment
We had a great time learning about the strength and stability of eggs. Their dome structure gives them incredible strength as demonstrated by the pictures below.
One egg easily supported the weight of these four dictionaries. We ran into a problem with balance though.
Three eggs supported the weight of 17 dictionaries and then required a fair deal of force applied to the top of the pile by Mrs. Adams to eventually "crack under the pressure".
